What is Aniline leather

Aniline leather is the leather secondly-processed from Italian Leather, using a soluble topcoat paint or insoluble pigments to dye it but without covering the surface. After the process, the leather is with a unique gloss and color, but distinct from artificial leather, you can see the natural pores and grains.

Fake Aniline Leather: Wax Leather

A lot of sellers use Wax Leather to pretend Aniline leather.
The Authentic Aniline Leather and the Fake Aniline Leather have 5 times difference in production cost. But if just take a rough look from outside with touching and analysis, they look almost the same.

Wax Leather is artificial leather, using a coating technique to glue an unctuous film onto the surface, and making the leather with an oil-bright gloss or wax effect.

Compared with Real Aniline Leather, Wax leather also has grains and lines, but this is made by painting, not the natural grains or lines. When you touch it, you can not feel the real skin texture of animals. It is much more thin and dry than Aniline Leather.

Imitated Aniline Leather

Unlike Wax Leather which is a totally artificial leather, Imitated Aniline Leather, also called as Average Aniline Leather, is using real leather as backing, usually top grain or bottom grain leather, and after technical processes to make the surface of the leather with an oil-bright gloss.
The biggest difference between Imitated Aniline Leather and the Real Aniline Leather, is Real Aniline Leather is processed on Italian Leather, and the gloss is more natural and the grains are more exquisite. While Imitated Aniline Leather is more coarse on the surface.





Imitated Aniline Leather is lower in price than Real Aniline Leather. It is still a good choice to use Imitated Aniline Leather if you want to save some money but want something similar to Aniline Leather.
Especially for Imitated Aniline Leather, we use the top grain leather as backing, NOT the cheap bottom grain leather.
